The ratio of women in the Korean civil service has exceeded 50% for the first time since the inception of the Government of Republic of Korea. The Korean government has been implementing a wide range of reformative measures to achieve a gender-balanced civil service with equal opportunity and the share of women in the civil service has been gradually increasing. The preliminary results of the annually-released statistics on national civil service in the public administration sector for 2017 show the proportion of women in the national civil service at 50.2%. The finalized results will be released in the coming weeks.
